By now Kelly was the darling of the submission scene. The American won three consecutive victories in ONE and, among other things, secured her first title ahead of her rival Jessa Khan. The showdown at ONE Fight Night 24 would be their toughest test yet.
In this 10-minute affair, both Bastos and Kelly performed well. They were aggressive and always looking for a better position or submission. There were no breaks. In the end, it was Bastos’ leg-lock attempts that secured her narrow victory.
Kelly wanted an immediate rematch, and that’s what she’s done now. Fueled by their last meeting and armed with first-hand knowledge of each other, the rematch is a compelling arc between the two best atomweight submission stars in the world. It’s a title contest that showcases the art of jiu-jitsu and the fighting IQ of both women.
