Bastos came to ONE Championship as one of the world’s best submission artists and an instant contender in the atomweight division. In her promotion debut, the Brazilian beat Kanae Yamada with a unanimous decision. It was a victory on a global platform, showcasing her talents to a worldwide audience.

By now Kelly was the darling of the submission scene. The American won three consecutive victories in ONE and, among other things, secured her first title ahead of her rival Jessa Khan. The showdown at ONE Fight Night 24 would be their toughest test yet.
In this 10-minute affair, both Bastos and Kelly performed well. They were aggressive and always looking for a better position or submission. There were no breaks. In the end, it was Bastos’ leg-lock attempts that secured her narrow victory.
