Where’s the beef? UFC Edmonton’s Derrick Lewis Accidentally Destroys ‘Scumbag’ Daniel Cormier: ‘He’s a Piece of Shit’

Well, that came out of nowhere.

Derrick Lewis returns this weekend (Sat., Nov. 2) against the Brazilian kickboxer for the second time in 2024 at UFC Edmonton Jhonata Dinizwhich will take place at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

During UFC Edmonton’s media day (watch here), “The Black Beast” was asked if there was a fight out there that he wanted to cross off his list. The holder of the most knockouts in UFC history opted for a rematch with the retired former heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

“Probably DC,” Lewis told the media. “Because I still don’t like it, man. Do people really like DC that much? Come on, man. I told DC to his face that he was a piece of shit. He’s a piece of shit. Not a scumbag, man.

When asked to elaborate, Lewis kept it pretty vague.

“He knows why. DC knows why,” Lewis said. Everyone knows why – he didn’t respect Popeye’s chicken, but otherwise he’s a piece of shit.”

Lewis and Cormier have taken shots at each other in the past. While Cormier’s comments came more from a broadcaster’s perspective, such as when he said he was finished as a top heavyweight and Lewis should retire after his loss to Sergey Spivak. Lewis, on the other hand, always talked nonsense when he answered Cormier.

Ariel Helwani Cormier asked today (Wednesday, October 30, 2024) following Lewis’ recent comments and believes Lewis is still upset about recommending “The Black Beast” be retired.

In fact, the two heavyweights met back in 2018 at UFC 230, where Cormier defeated Lewis in the second round (see highlights).

They will not compete against each other again.
