While Paddy Pimblett claimed he would like to fight Ilia Topuria, an old rival said the Liverpudlian should just face “reality” and fight him instead.
The potential matchup would undeniably attract the attention of hardcore MMA fans.
Guram Kutateladze wants to fight against Paddy Pimblett
At UFC 308, Paddy Pimblett watched as Ilia Topuria knocked out Max Holloway with a devastating left hook in a statement performance.
But the brutality of the finish didn’t deter, it only whetted the Scouser’s appetite to set foot in the cage with the Spanish-Georgian himself.
However, with “El Matador” competing in the weight class below, the likelihood of a fight with Pimblett coming to fruition any time soon is unlikely.
That’s why the Brit needs another opponent. And Guram Kutateladze is more than happy to take on the responsibility.
WOW: Jorge Masvidal claims Leon Edwards “passed on” an offer from the UFC to resolve their feud.
Earlier today, the talented fighter asked Pimblett via Twitter to join him in the octagon.
Kutateladze said: “Paddy Pimblett, I saw that you are waiting for Ilia Topuria to come to lightweight and fight him. That sounds unreal.
“Let’s talk about reality. We have unfinished business; I’m in the lightweight division and can’t wait to fight you. You don’t need any more reasons and you don’t have to wait. The UFC, put this guy in the cage with me.”
Fans mock Paddy Pimblett for saying he can beat Ilia Topuria
Kutateladze isn’t the only one who didn’t take Pimblett’s talk of defeating Topuria too seriously.
While the grappler has now cemented his place in the UFC lightweight rankings, the MMA community isn’t particularly convinced that he has what it takes to defeat someone of “El Matador’s” caliber.
Following his comments, numerous fans took to social media to voice their opinion on the Englishman’s claims.
