The mother of Levi Davis – the former Bath rugby player who went missing two years ago – says she feels “let down” by Spanish police and believes he was a “victim of a crime”.
The ex-winger, who was 24 when he went missing, was last seen at the Old Irish Pub in Barcelona on October 29, 2022. Local investigators later closed the case and suggested that he probably drowned at sea.
But now new allegations have emerged from journalists Byline times about a blackmail plan against him.
His mother, Julie Davis, told the outlet: “We felt let down by the police and I believe Levi was a victim of crime in the UK and Spain. So many things don’t add up. I am determined to fight for it.” Truth.
“They pulled out all the stops to find Jay Slater and bring justice to Madeleine McCann. You must do the same for Levi now.”
She added: “Until his body is found, I will not give up hope.”
Minister of Protection Jess Phillips repeated calls for a “joint” police review of new evidence after the 14-month Byline Times investigation also claimed there were “serious failings” in the Spanish investigation into Mr Davis’ disappearance.
After leaving Bath in 2020, Mr Davis spoke about his battle with depression and his sexuality – he was the first professional rugby player to come out as bisexual while playing.
He also made a few television appearances – most notably on Celebrity X factor in 2019 alongside rugby stars Ben Foden and Thom Evans in a group called Try Star.
Davis had also signed a record deal and went to a friend’s house in Ibiza in 2022 to work on some songs, but then told his foster mother Suzanne Balfour that he had to “get out”.
After traveling to Barcelona, he disappeared on October 29th. There are few confirmed details about the circumstances.
Family members beforehand said Sky News His phone was last discovered at the other end of the Barcelona trading port.
Cruise ship personnel also describe trying to rescue a man in the water the night Davis went missing.
