Troy Deeney claims the Nottingham Forest player is proving people wrong this season

Troy Deeney claims the Nottingham Forest player is proving people wrong this season

Nottingham Forest beat Leicester City 3-1 at the King Power Stadium on Friday to secure East Midlands prestige.

With Derby busy drawing against the likes of Oxford and Hull, this rivalry has stalled and it feels a bit strange that the club doesn’t have a proper derby day to look forward to.

Because of this, many will now see Leicester as Forest’s main rivals, although from a fan perspective it is always a game that will mean much more to them than it does to us.

There were a number of top performers in Leicester on Friday. Elliot Anderson was praised by Gary Neville, while Ryan Yates was also in top form.

The Reds sit seventh in the Premier League after nine games and fans can be happy as the club looks to really stabilize themselves in the top flight.

Troy Deeney praises Nottingham Forest star after win over Leicester

The BBC Sport pundit has gone from one end of the scale to the other when it came to naming Forest players in his team of the week.

After overlooking every Forest player following a 1-0 win over Liverpool in September, he has now named two Reds stars in his team this week.

Deeney praised Ryan Yates for his performance during this week’s segment and also got involved with Chris Wood for the second year in a row.

He told BBC Sport: “He has been scoring goals all season and he comes up big when he needs to. Two massive goals on a great night against rivals Leicester.

“Big Chris still delivers. Look at the age group. Apparently now you only have to be 23 and all you can do is sprint and run, but this guy shows that it’s good to have a little experience and he’s been the striker in our team two times in a row. “

Wood is finally getting the praise he deserves

This season, Wood will almost certainly become the top scorer in Forest’s history when it comes to goals scored in Premier League games.

He wants to achieve that quickly and hopefully he can improve on the 14 Premier League goals he scored last season.

Wood’s arrival at Forest was met with heavy criticism, but ultimately the club decided to do what they thought was right and add a Premier League striker to the team.

He has worked hard on his game since arriving at Trentside and is now finally getting his due as a top professional and all-around good player.

Wood will want to continue scoring goals as the season progresses and it seems only a matter of time before a new contract offer is in sight.
