Viktor Gyokeres’ transfer plans to Liverpool FC after Ruben Amorim’s move to Man Utd

Viktor Gyokeres’ transfer plans have already been announced as Ruben Amorim is set to leave the club.

The Swedish striker is reportedly on Liverpool’s transfer radar, with Arne Slot looking to bolster his attacking options given the unreliability of Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez.

The former is currently out due to injury and is very injury-prone having missed a lot of games in recent seasons.

The latter, meanwhile, has never really found his definitive boots in a Liverpool shirt. The jury is still out on Nunez, but it’s clear that Slot can’t just rely on him alone.

What impact Ruben Amorim’s departure will have on Viktor Gyokeres

Gyokeres seems to be an ideal striker for Liverpool. Powerful and quick, he has a proven ability in front of goal that has seen him turn heads ever since he arrived at Sporting CP.

He has scored 78 goals for the club in just 65 appearances, which is an incredible record.

Most importantly, he also proved to be a prolific goalscorer in England, scoring 34 goals in 50 games for Coventry in his final season in the Championship.

This track record makes him an ideal candidate for Liverpool and it looks like the Reds could be clearing the way to sign him with his current boss close to a move to Man United.

Gyokeres has an excellent relationship with Amorim and that was a major factor in his decision to stay at the club this summer, despite there being strong interest in his services.

Back in March, Gyokeres’ agent addressed rumors of a move to Liverpool and revealed that Amorim’s departure from the club could have a massive impact on his client’s transfer position.

Gyokeres representative Hasan Cetinkaya told Portuguese broadcaster A Bola: “It doesn’t surprise me that Ruben is linked to Liverpool, that’s normal, his work is at a high level, that’s what the clubs are looking for.”

“Yes, it will be more difficult for Viktor to stay if Ruben leaves Amorim Sporting, because Viktor came precisely because of Ruben.”

“The day we met I said to Ruben: ‘Here’s my boy, he came to Sporting because of you,'” he added.

There is a risk that Man United will now take action against Gyokeres. But the Red Devils have not been mentioned as a potential destination for now.

What is clear is that after Amorim’s departure, Gyokeres would definitely be more open to a transfer away from Portugal if Liverpool actually came.

One more reason for the Reds to act quickly.
